PRRS (porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome) is an economically important disease around the world; it has been estimated to cost the swine industry in USA approximately US$ 560 million annually. The efficacy of the use of modified live vaccines in a herd has been proven in comparison to historical values where no vaccine has been used. However, the benefit of MLV in herds versus similar herds not using vaccines has not been reported yet.
