For the past few years, the new metal phosphinate flame retardants have been widely used in reinforced polyamides, mainly for electrical and electronic (E&E) applications. These products have gained market share in competition with halogen and red phosphorus based flame retardants due to their balanced property profile, compensating for some weaknesses of the other materials.
