AN ENHANCED UNDERSTANDING OF EMERGING RISKS WITHIN THE GAS INDUSTRY IS PARAMOUNT TO SUSTAIN SAFE OPERATION IN THE FUTURE

Gassco operates an integrated gas transport system from the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) to Europe. This system comprises 8000 kilometres of offshore pipelines, large process facilities, riser platforms and gas receiving terminals in continental Europe and the UK. The transport network has a built-in flexibility, which makes it possible to compensate for production disruptions on offshore fields, at process plants and on riser platforms. Despite the network complexity with more than 50 fields tied in and a larger number of gas qualities, it deliver with almost 100 per cent availability in the market. Deliveries from the Norwegian gas transport system to Europe came to 108.4 bcm in 2015, compared with 101.1 billion bcm the year before. Gas exports from the NCS thereby set a new annual record.
