Advantages: 1. Producing based on renewable raw material. 2. Can be used in mix with gasoline (16%). Vehicles require no modifications to use it. 3. Less volatile then gasoline (high safety). 4. Biobutanol resists water absorption, less corrosive then ethanol allowing it to be transported in pipes and carriers used by gasoline. 5. Higher energy content than ethanol. 6. The EPA showing that hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxide releases can be greatly reduced by use of biobutanol. Problems: 1. Low concentration of butanol in fermentation broth. 2. High recovery cost by distillation.
