Ergonomic risk factors continue to contribute too many forms of loss and waste at our Greensburg, Indiana facility. These wastes are observed in the forms of cumulative trauma disorders such as carpel tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff tendonitis, back strains and sprains. These wastes result in associate musculoskeletal OSHA Recordable's, increased costs due to intervention therapy and increased workers compensation costs. The ergonomic program has documented the following improvements at Greensburg: OSHA Recordable's was reduced from 65 to 3 for a cost avoidance of $286,155. A number of Worker Compensation cases were avoided during 2007 & 2008 for a savings of $227,429. The number of ATC (intervention therapy) was reduced from 1011 to just 435 for an additional cost avoidance of $47, 808. The totaled savings amounted to $561,392.00. A very sizable return on your investment in the ergonomics team, onsite ATC and good medical management.
