Results of the experiments aimed at the study of fission and quasi-fission processes in the reactions 48ca+144,154sm 168Er; 208pb; 238u 244pu; 248Cm; 50Ti+208pb; 244-u; "Fe+2°Vb, 244-u, r 24RCm, and 64Ni+186.8 W 242PU leading to the formation of heavy and super-heavy systems with Z=82-122 are presented. Cross sections, mass-energy and angulardistributions for fission and quasi-fission fragments have been studied at energies closeand below the Coulomb barrier. The influence of the reaction entrance channel propertiessuch as mass asymmetry, deformations, neutron excess, shell effects in the interactingnuclei and producing compound nucleus, the mechanism of the fusion-fission and thecompetitive process of quasi-fission are discussed.
