According to the general needs in analytical instrumentation for fast and reagent-free multi-analyte assays, more applications of vibrational spectroscopy for quality control and industrial process monitoring have been established today. In particular, mid-infrared spectroscopy has many favourable options, and especially the attenuated total reflection technique (ATR) using fibre-optic probes based on silver halide fibres and an inert diamond micro-prism can be advantageously used. Process monitoring applications from the petroleum industry, food science and technology and pharmacy will be presented for demonstrating the versatility of the developed DiProbe for remote sensing analytical tasks.
