摘要

Current literature relies almost exclusively on the power number to compare and characterize impellers. Industrial mixing requirements are wide ranging and may rely on conditions far away from the impeller. This paper proposes a protocol to compare impellers designed for turbulent mixing on the basis of both impeller hydrodynamic performance and mixing process objectives. A hydrofoil impeller (the KPC) and a mixed-flow impeller (a 4-bladed 45° PBT pumping down), each at two diameters (D=T/2 and 173) and a range of off-bottom clearances, were used to test and evaluate the protocol.
