Sites impacted with chlorinated solvents are rarely remediated to closure using a single remedial technology. Multiple technologies (the treatment train approach) are often much more effective for accelerating remedial efforts at sites impacted with chlorinated solvents. The treatment train approach typically involves implementing various remedial technologies in succession, utilizing multiples technologies concurrently, and conducting interim or limited remedial actions in source areas or other key portions of the contaminant plume to augment existing systems. This study presents the results of this approach used at a drycleaner site in Florida being remediated under the auspices of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (FDEP) Drycleaning Solvent and Hazardous Waste Cleanup Program.
