摘要

The potential for humic substances to transfer electrons directly to hexahydro-1,3,5- trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), an explosive and toxic compound, was investigated. RDX is degraded via its nitroso metabolites MNX, DNX, and TNX. This study identified the potential for chemically or biologically reduced anthraquinone-2,6-disulfonate (AQDS), a humic substances analog, and biologically reduced Fe(III) to reduce RDX and promote biodegradation in resting cell suspensions and RDX-contaminated aquifer material.
