Decades of operations at an active, 150-acre aerospace research and development facility in Orange County, California, have resulted in groundwater impacted by numer- ous VOCs including TCE, Freon 113, and 1,4-Dioxane as well as elevated levels of acetone and isopropanol. The wide range in physical and chemical properties of these contaminants presents difficulty in managing the facility remediation to meet owner requirements as well as requirements of the regulatory agency. The principal risk driver is potential impacts to the underlying drinking water aquifer.
