An optical biopsy system for early breast cancer diagnostics is reported. This system has a special invasive probe that can deliver the light from xenon lamp into the breast tissue. The scattered light collects by several fibers that were placed into the same probe. The spectrum of scattered light was measured by spectrometers in real time. During last two years the system was tested in the Regional Oncology Center of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. More then 160 patents were investigated using this system. After optical biopsy the usual fine biopsy procedure were performed and cytological analysis of tumor cell samples was conducted. The clinical tests have found that the holder has some limitations of its design as it exists today. New design of the probe was proposed and now its clinical test was began.
