The Committee evaluated six additional flavouring agents belonging to the group of amino acids and related substances. The additional flavouring agents included three L-amino acids (Nos 2118-2120), two dipeptides (Nos 2121 and 2122) and one tripeptide(No. 2123). None of these flavouring agents have previously been evaluated by the Committee. The safety of the submitted substance (3f?)-4-[[(1S)-1-benzyl-2-methoxy-2-oxo-ethyl]amino]-3-[3-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxy-phenyI)propylamino]-4-oxo-butanoic acid hydrate (Advantame, No. 2124) was not assessed; the Committee decided that it would not be appropriate to evaluate this substance as a flavouring agent, because it is a low-calorie intense sweetener.
