Performance of distorted square solar sails with non-ideal surface properties are modeled, and series expansions and symmetry considerations are shown to yield useful analytic results. In particular, distortion distributions like those of the baseline ATK and L'Garde designs with symmetry about both their quadrant centerlines and the diagonals produce no roll moments. Numeric results are presented to illustrate the predictions and to show the effects of asymmetries. Careful design can significantly reduce distortion-induced pitch and yaw moments via slope cancellation.
