This paper presents findings on how market entry timing effects an organization's market exit. Results indicate that different market entry timing types effect this outcome variable in opposite ways. Absolute early entrants were more likely to continue in their industry than late absolute entrants, but late relative entrants saw better outcomes than early relative entrants. Market entry timing provided a 9 percentage point improvement in predictive ability over the naive classification approach. The study was conducted in the international automobile industry.
