An urban soundscape was evaluated in regard to the urban sounds from road traffic, people talking, construction, and water fountains. Those typical sounds were recorded in open public spaces in Sheffield, UK and were subjectively evaluated in laboratory conditions. It has been shown that there are equivalent sound pressure levels for the urban noises and that the combinations of these four sounds were proposed by considering different actual level ranges. The long term goal of this study is to develop standardized processes for assessing soundscape.
