Integrated A/C Noise Flight Paths data Remote Display at Paris Airports

Most international airports operate Integrated monitoring systems, insofar as they receive information from aircraft beacon via the secondary radar and correlating noise levels recorde at noise monitoring stations with aircraft identification and flight track data. Around Paris airports, the noise monitoring system comprises about fourty stations. From each terminal, noise events reports are transmitted to the Lab, where correlations with aircraft data are performed and noise exposure (Leq, Lden) is computed. Periodic reports have been delivered through Internet to the community on the website http://www.entrevoisins.org With the technology available today, another system provides the community with real time flight tracks and noise levels at noise monitoring stations. For security reasons, those data were not disclosed through Internet, but displayed at the airport. At the "Maisons de l'Environnement" (Visitor Center) existing at both Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports, former air traffic controllers can explain what is on the screen and provide any technical information dealing with aircraft traffic. Since 2006, this system is available in the local government facilities of neighboring cities and towns around which choose to benefit from it. This remote display is designated by the acronym VITRAIL -which stands for Visualisation of flight TRAcks and Information on Line-, a word meaning in French leaded glass window.
