Morphological changes of bar and shoreline in two artificial beaches of Barcelona city (La Barceloneta and Bogatell) are analyzed for a three-year period, looking for possible couplings between bar and shoreline behaviours. Mean bar positions along the study period present configurations oblique to the reference shoreline. The alongshore-averaged cross-shore location varies approximately 20 m in the shoreline and more than 50 m in the bars. The average of the cross-shore migration rates calculated on a weekly scale in Barcelona beaches is 2.4 m/day in the on-shore direction and, for off-shore migration rates is 3.7 m/day. The main coupling occurring on the beaches took place in La Barceloneta, and consisted in two megacusps attached to the submerged bar that maintained for more than one year.
