The 3.7 l V6 TDI for the 24 Hours of Le Mans - a new idea triumphs

With its victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2011 and 2012 AUDI demonstrated impressively that engines with much smaller capacities than those more commonly used could be extremely successful. Thanks to a host of innovative technical solutions combined with unusual but pioneering architecture, this extremely compact engine provided the platform for a number of victories - more recently even combined with an MGU as e-tron quattro. The engine is a technology demonstrator for a number of customer relevant solutions thanks to the extremely low consumption figures. These will become available for our customers after having been tested successfully in the hardest endurance race.
