First installation of the electro MAgnetic Strip Stabilization 'eMASS' at ThyssenKnupp Steel in hot-clip galvanizing line No. 1 in Duisburg

A laboratory measuring device was used for measurements of zinc coating of 5 m long test sheets. The coating thickness was measured precisely over the strip length with high sensitive local dissolution. These variations cannot be seen by normal line measuring methods, because the integration time is too long. Fig. 1 shows an example of an old measurement with very high variations of zinc coating thickness. Similar measurements were carried out at all TKS CGLs with different target coatings.
