Microcrystalline diamond coated mechanical seal for strong dry-running multiphase pump application

Mechanical seals are commonly used in a wide range of industrial applications. In case of high sealing pressures, or if abrasive particles are involved, hard/hard face materials are required. This combination does not allow any dry running and has only limited capabilities with regard to poor lubrication. In many cases mechanical seals with hard/hard face material combinations fail due to breakdown of the lubrication film.
