The non-ionizing radiation processing with helium was treated on forage sorghum seeds for 15 seconds by using low-temperature plasma (LTP). The effects of LTP on seed germination were analyzed. Different LTP treatments on the seeds were carried out, according to different power, namely OW(CK), 20W, 40W, 60W, 80W, 100W, 120W, 140W,160W, 180W, 200W, 220W, 240W, 260W, 280W before the seed germination experiment was performed. In tests to measure the germination vigor, germination rate, shoot length, root length, germination index(GI), and vigor index(VI) of forage sorghum seeds were found to be significantly increased by using LTP reasonably. Among all the groups, the treatment of 140W showed the highest results in germination rate, shoot length, germination index, vigor index, which increased respectively by 18.93%, 34.25%, 37.73%, 34.25% compared with the CK meaning that 140W LTP had the most obvious effect on seed germination. The results could provide theoretical foundation for the treatment of forage sorghum on a large scale.
