The near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy technique was used to make the rapid detection of nitrogen content in maize leaves. The absorbance spectral of nitrogen content in maize leaves are acquired by FieldSpec 3 spectrometer and Nitrogen content of maizeleaves are measured by automatic azotometer. The partial least square regression (PLSR) model was applied to analyze the correlation between spectral data and nitrogen content. The result of research shows that good correlations are found between nitrogen content in maize leaves and spectral information, the prediction R2 is equal to 0.8895 with RMSEP of 0.2915. So this work indicates that the rapid and non-destructive detect method of nitrogen content in maize leaves based on near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy technique is high accuracy and practical value.
