REACH (standing for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals), the new EU legislation on chemicals policy, is one of the most ambitious projects of the European Union in the field of environmental and worker protection legislation. The impacts REACH will have of the internal market are immense. Each actor within the European Union, no matter if he is a manufacturer, importer or downstream user of substances, will be influenced by the REACH regulation. Metals and metal compounds are considered as substances and therefore fall under the scope of this chemicals regulation.
