An approach to targeted paclitaxel prodrugs

Paclitaxel is a nongenotoxic cytostatic agent which is now utilized in a treatment of human cancer, especially ovarian, breast (1) and lung (2) cancer. Hovewer, paclitaxel has very poor water solubility and its administration solution of Cremophore causes undesirable side effects. Therefore, it has been of special interest to synthesize paclitaxel derivatives with improved water solubility, carrying potential targeting moieties.
