Imidazoles have shown various pharmaceutical properties such as antifungal, antiprotozal, antihypertensive, antibacterial, and antidiabetic. 1 The wide application of imidazole derivatives has promoted extensive studies for their synthesis. Among those, aromatization of 2-imidazolines to the corresponding imidazoles by use of oxidizing agent is general.2 However, most of the procedures have drawbacks such as long reaction times, high temperatures, harsh reaction condition, and tedious work up.
