Heterocyclization by carbonickelation: an easy access to polycyclic compounds though a cascade process

Our interest in the synthesis of 3-vinylindoles and 3-vinylbenzofurans resorting to a new anionic pathway led us to describe carbolithiation reactions transforming phenyl propargyl ethers into 3-vinyl-benzofurans, furopyridines and indoles.1 This reaction revealed efficient and stereocontroled.
