A new testing station for rock impact on full-scale structures

Rearding natural disaster like rock falls, protection of civil engineering infrastructure against impacts becomes more and more important. The global behaviour of structures under such conditions has been poorly investigated, for the time being, and generally at a reduced scale. As a consequence, the predicted behaviour of civil engineering infrastructure at full-scale is a result from wide extrapolation. The French institute of science and technology for transport, devlopment and networks (Ifsttar, previously LCPC) has decided to build a new tesing station dedicated to this topic whth the traget to perform tests at scale 1.
