A new method for the evaluation of the longitudinal evenness

A new analysis method is proposed, called the Weighted Longitudinal Profile (WLP). Basically new to this approach is that it combines the advantages of vibration analysis, i.e. the ability to localize and quantify the effects of unevenness, with the advantages of statistical profile analysis: the independence of vibration behavior and speed. By applying it to various profiles the new method exhibits the capability to distinguish between random, periodic and transient contributions of unevenness. Besides that irregularities are assigned to their exact positions. The method is easy understandable and, since it relies on the measured (true) profile of the road, it is compatible to the existing valuation concept in Germany and other countries having access to sampled profile data.
