Many experiments of comparison have been conducted in the bench-scale device to study on smoke hazards. The concentration of smoke at the distant location, the relationship between the fuel mass variation and the smoke concentration and the smoke concentration at the distant location down the hallway with respect to the different openings of the room of fire origin has been discussed, including the smoke sustaining time, the concentration peak and the concentration buildup rate versus the size of the opening respectively, The smoke sustaining time, the most important factor concerning smoke toxicity, is described by a cited concept, wavelength, in this study. Based on the experiments, an equation is proposed to express the concentration variation at far position.
