STATUS OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE RESOLUTIONS AND FUTURE PROGRAMMES

The author will describe the structure,the main activities of the Council of Europe in the area of"Food Contact Materials"as well as the procedures for the adoption of a Resolution.He will examine the more important results of this activity and will summarize the content of all approved Resolutions and Guidelines and in particular the more recent Resolutions on"Paper""Surface Coatings"and"Inks".He will explain the main problems resulting from this activity,the status of transposition at national level,the difficulties in this transposition,the legal value of the Resolutions and their relationship with the EU Regulations/Directives.Finally it will describe the new programme of the Council of Europe and some new ideas for the future,in particular for the evaluation of the various Inventory Lists,present in many Resolutions..
