High-resolution Traveling Wave Ion Mobility Separations using Structures for Lossless Ion Manipulations (SLIM)

Lossless transmission of ions through new TW-SLIM modules was demonstrated. High-resolution separations can be obtained by using various TW-SLIM configurations. The traveling wave speed and amplitude were optimized to achieve maximum resolution. RF amplitude and guard bias have negligible effects on separations. Our results match previous reports that investigated traveling wave ion mobility resolution achieved with conventional designs. This work offers a route for implementation of SLIM devices that are both more compact and more powerful.
