For kidney tissue sections. IMS results from the nitrocellulose surface showed a regioselective transfer for a subset of protein signals without significant loss in signal intensity. Results thus indicate that blotted proteins have retained their spatial localization and in some cases provided a better sensitivity for IMS when compared to the same MS signals observed after the direct analysis of serial sections. Other protein signals were only observed by IMS after protein transfer to the nitrocellulose surface.
