摘要

The rhesus monkey is one of the most valuable non-human primate animal models for various human diseases because of its manageable size and the genetic and proteomic similarities with humans. Nevertheless, proteomic research using rhesus monkeys, unlike other animal models, still remains challenging due to the lack of a complete protein sequence database. Current approaches for proteome sequencing mainly utilize whole species protein databases with over 3 million entries. Software is available for de novo sequencing, which automates the interpretation of mass spectrometry data. However, this strategy requires a considerable investment of time and effort. In the current study, various databases were compared in order to develop an effective alternative method for monkey proteomics.
