DESI-MS Analysis of Anabolic Steroids Separated with Pressurized Planar Electrochromatography (PPEC)

Coupling PPEC with DESI-MS offers several advantages over traditional methods of analysis of steroids including: (1) Simple inexpensive separation technique; (2) Faster and more efficient separations than traditional TLC; (3) Combination of orthogonal techniques; (4) Detection and identification of steroid by mass spectrometry without complete separation or derivatization; (5) Ability to perform multiple separations simultaneously; (6) Chromatography and analysis can be performed as different operations making the combination suitable for high throughput analysis. This data illustrates the combination of PPEC and DESI-MS as a novel approach to the analysis of steroids.
