摘要

Reliable and simple assay for glutathione analysis has been developed for complex red blood cell lysates as a way to directly assess the extent of oxidative stress. Modified injection sequence allowed for accurate GSH:GSH ratio determination avoiding bias caused by artificial oxidation during sample handling or analysis. Intra-cellular redox status and anti-oxidant capacity has been quantified via ex vivo oxidation studies based on the apparent kinetics of glutathionine oxidation. Discovery of early stage biomarkers of oxidative stress and identification of factors that influence glutathione metabolism will be examined in future studies.
