The ToF-AMS is able to collect and save high-resolution mass spectra at rates exceeding 1000 Hz with broad dynamic range. Fast acquisition is also possible in the PToF mode. This highly efficient operation is based on an ADC with on-board data averaging. We have recently demonstrated the utility of the ToF-AMS for eddy covariance aerosol flux measurements. This mode of operation involves strict 10-Hz synchronization of the ToF-AMS and a sonic anemometer. For aircraft-based measurements, spatial resolution depends on acquisition rates. Sample data are presented from the recent NASA ARCTAS field campaign where the ToF-AMS was run at 1 Hz.
