Antibiotics pose a threat to water quality management. Aqua-culture and livestock farming use substantial amount of antibiotics for disease control in Korea. These antibiotics are eventually discharged into receiving streams, which are main drinking water sources. However, very few information is available on analytical methods of the antibiotics in water. This study attempts to provide such information. Fourteen antibiotics were selected for this purpose. They include seven sulfonamide antibiotics: sulfamonomethoxine (SMMX), sulfadimethoxine (SDMX), sulfamethoxazole (SMXZ), sulfathiazole (STZL), sulfachloropyridazine (SCPD), sulfamerazine (SMRZ), sulfamethazine (SMTZ). There are also seven tetracycline antibiotics: oxytetracycline (OXTC), minocycline (MCLN), doxycycline (DOXN), meclocycline (MECN), chlortetracycline (CTCL), democlocycline (DEMN), tetracycline (TCLN).
