DIELECTRIC HEATING EQUIPMENT FOR BOTH INDUSTRIAL FEASIBILITY STUDIES AS FOR DIDACTICAL PURPOSES

Recently, the electroheat equipment of LABORELEC was moved to the electrical engineering department of the University of Leuven. With reference to the historical evolution of the technology, it is shown how the concept of a 50Ω modular installation with fixed frequency generator is a cornerstone in the development of radiofrequency heating. The possibility of separate measurements contributes to the receptiveness of this dielectric heating technology. It is also demonstrated how the 50 Ω technology for radiofrequency heating is very appropriate to make this technology understandable for potential industrial users as well as for electrical engineering students.
