摘要

Image Fusion is a combination of two or more different images to form a new image by using certain algorithms (Pohl et al 1998). Purpose of this process is obtaining image with better quality. In present paper we are investigating one of the methods of image fusion so-called pan-sharpening. Implementing pan-sharpening technique was a part of project that conducted in Srilanka for Tsunami damage detection and assessment by using high-resolution satellite images. In this study we are comparing different algorithms and analyzing the problems and difficulties that occurring due to pan-sharpening. QuickBird satellite data was used for implementing this work. It was found that, from existing algorithms Gram-Schmidt Spectral Sharpening method providing better result. RSI ENVI image processing software was used as implementation tool.
