In conclusion, a casual attitude to the design of wind based lateral-force-resisting systems has been found to exist. While this engineer does not believe that this attitude is pervasive, the results are significant and disturbing. This casual attitude has been found to range from outright ignorance and contempt for the Code requirements to engineers who ignore this element of building design due to limited fees.
