Electrodeposited alloy and composite coatings can be produced with nanostructure coatings which can enhance their properties. Examples described here include Co-W-B coatings which have wear and corrosion resistance that might allow it to replace hard Cr; thin Zn-Co-Cr-SiO{sub}2 coatings which improve sacrificial corrosion resistance on steel: WS{sub}2 nanoparticles in Co coatings with low friction properties.
