Zinc dialkyldithiophosphates (ZnDDP) is the most commonly used antiwear and antioxidation additive in engine oil. The importance of metal-organic compounds as tribological additives for reducing wear, improving anti-seizure performance and increasing antioxidation properties is also generally recognized. In this paper, four-ball wear test, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) test and thin film oxidation test were used to evaluate the antiwear, antioxidation and deposit-inhibiting performances of ZnDDP plus an organo-titanium compound. The results indicate that the organo-titanium compound combined with ZnDDP exhibits excellent antiwear, antioxidation and deposit-inhibiting capacities in paraffin-base oil, by which we can develop a titanium-containing compound/ZnDDP antiwear and antioxidation additive system for lubricant.
