UV-irradiated Cells as a Screening System for the Antioxidants

There is currently great interest in the cellular and molecular mechanisms of UV-induced cytotoxicity. In order to understand the mechanisms of UV-mediated cell death, three different cell lines were examined their survival rate and the intracellular level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) after UV irradiation. According our results, two types of events could be discriminated during the course of UV light-mediated cell death. In addition, we could propose the HL60 cells were one of a good candidate for establishing a screening system for antioxidants.
