PtRu bimetal nanoparticles were decorated on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) using H{sub}2PtCl{sub}6 and RuCl{sub}3 as precursors with the aid of supercritical CO{sub}2, and the resulting composites were characterized by means of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The as-prepared PtRu/MWNT composites exhibited high activity for methanol electro-oxidation reaction.
