Heat and mass transfer coefficients were obtained experimentally during ammonia gas absorption into a falling liquid film formed by distilled water on a horizontal tube. Increasing the flow rate of absorbent and the temperature difference between the inlet absorbent and ammonia gas could enhance heat and mass transfer coefficients. Heat driven by the temperature difference also has an effect on the heat transfer of the falling liquid film and mass transfer from the vapour side. A new correlation of heat transfer in dimensionless form was proposed using the temperature difference, which was considered to be heat driven at the vapour and liquid film side by the interface temperature of the vapour and liquid phases. New correlations of mass transfer on an interface of vapour and liquid phases in dimensionless form were proposed by using effect factors that could be supposed from the absorption phenomena.
