This paper presents a new concept of product design based on customer satisfaction measure. The idea is to find a balanced design plan considering many factors of the product to meet the customer needs. With the knowledge of product satisfaction by customer evaluation, a fuzzy chance constrained programming model is established to analyze and predict customer satisfaction. A paradigm is proposed to dispose a fuzzy simulated objective function so that the solution can be obtained by genetic algorithm. To demonstrate the proposed concept and implementation method, this paper provides an example for improved design of mobile phones. In the experimental system, the weights are collected from satisfaction evaluation of customers. Then the most significant factors of product design are found to reflect the practical effects of customer satisfaction and therefore the design plan is improved.
