USE OF DUE COASTCOLOUR PRODUCTS FOR STUDYING THE IMPACT OF CYCLONES ON THE AUSTRALIAN GREAT BARRIER REEF

Healthy coral reefs are among the most biologically diverse and economically valuable ecosystems on earth, providing valuable and vital ecosystem services. Coral reef decline will have alarming consequences for approximately 500 million people who depend on coral reefs for food, coastal protection, building materials, and income from tourism. This work addresses the study and monitoring of coral reefs habitats using remote sensing, assessing if the repercussions of cyclones can be detected using MERIS Coast- Colour data, on the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.
