Near surface structure study in desert area by using two different datasets

摘要

Surface wave methods are not always employed in desert area for detecting the structure of subsurface, although it is common to find a case in point that the methods are applied in environmental and engineering geophysics. The paper discusses the feasibility of using the multi-channel analysis of surface wave method (MASW) to study the near surface structure in desert area. The discussion bases on the site, Takelamagan Desert, where has a unique characteristic that is the near surface of the whole study area covered with sand. The data are obtained by two different ways: one is acquired by using special designed acquisition parameters, and the other is just to use the dataset collected from the seismic crew during the oil exploration. All of these two different data are analyzed by MASW method, and then the results are plotted and interpreted. It is proved that MASW can be employed in desert for detecting the structure of near surface due to the excellent consistent in depth less than 20 meters underground.
