Generally, heavy oil is produced from reservoirs by steam injection, including cyclic steam stimulation, steam drive and SAGD. This paper presents a new concept of water-steam ratio (the ratio of production water rate transferred from injected steam to water rate) firstly according to the definition of the back water production ratio (the ratio of production water rate to steam injection rate), and derives the equations to calculate water produced from formation. In addition, the paper gives a formula of the relationship of the pressure drop rate with production-injection ratio (PIR), water invasion rate and steam injection. The method has been used to calculate and analyze the production performance of heavy oil with steam injection in Liaohe oilfield. The calculation result accords well with the actual situation of heat-recovery reservoirs. Therefore, this method is recommended to optimize production parameters of heat recovery reservoir engineering.
